Session Overview

This whole day event will focus on the Upper GI Cancer Incidence and Upper GI Rapid Diagnosis Pathway (RDS) in practise.

It will also focus on recognising the signs and symptoms and diagnosing of pancreatic cancer,  oesophageal and gastric cancer and hepatocellular carcinoma and surveillance. It will also cover UGI oncological treatments, chemotherapy / immunotherapy – side effects and management.

The day will also  include nutritional optimisation of the UGI cancer patient, utilisation of pancreatic enzyme replacement therapy (PERT), endoscopic management of oesophageal cancer and recognising signs and symptoms and diagnosing gall bladder cancer.

The day will conclude with open ‘table top’ discussions  on oesophago – gastric stents, nutrition, post op side effects and pancreatic cysts and gall bladder polyps.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the course the participant will be able to:

• Discuss Upper GI Cancer Incidence and the Upper GI Rapid Diagnosis Pathway.
• Recognise the signs and symptoms and diagnosis of pancreatic cancer, oesophageal and gastric cancer and hepatocellular carcinoma and surveillance.
• Appreciate nutritional optimisation of the UGI cancer patient, utilisation of pancreatic enzyme replacement therapy (PERT), endoscopic management of oesophageal cancer and recognise the signs and symptoms and diagnosing gall bladder cancer.
