Communication and Interaction Training (CAIT) is a person-centred training programme designed to help staff acquire greater ‘dementia care literacy’. It provides a common language within an organisation in order to promote consistent care for people living with dementia.

Course Overview

The training will help participants to articulate their existing skills, and build on these strengths. It will provide information on dementia, sensory changes, communication styles; as well as discussing controversial topics such as ‘therapeutic lying’ and restraint.

Providing practical examples of good practice, each delegate will leave the training with a compendium of tools and approaches to manage mild to severe behavioural difficulties. This includes an online “reference library”.

Our training session will be delivered by in person by Professor Ian Andrew James, founder of the CAIT programme.

This training is mapped to: HEE Dementia Training Standards Framework Tier 3.
