Urgent Cancer Care: Recognising and Responding to Acute Oncology Presentations

Who is the event for?

This study day is designed for Nurses, Doctors, Paramedics and Allied Health Professionals working in Cheshire who wish to increase their knowledge and confidence in recognising and managing oncological emergencies.

Session Overview

This full-day study event focuses on the recognition and management of acute oncological emergencies in patients receiving cancer treatment or living with cancer.

Throughout the day, participants will explore:

  • Metastatic spinal cord compression
  • Immunotherapy-related emergencies
  • Neutropenic sepsis
  • Recognising Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy (SACT) toxicities
  • Complications of indwelling lines used for chemotherapy

      Learning Outcomes

      By the end of the study day, participants will:

      • Have an improved understanding of a range of oncological emergencies
      • Know how to recognise symptoms, act promptly and escalate appropriately
      • Feel more confident managing acute presentations in oncology settings
      • Contribute to enhanced patient safety and quality of care
