Developing a Palliative and End of Life Strategy for Cheshire & Merseyside

Following the publication of the Population Based Needs Assessment (PBNA) Cheshire and Merseyside ICB are beginning to work on a new five-year strategy for Palliative and End of Life Care (PEOLC)

This strategy aims to:

  • Raise the profile of PEOLC across the system
  • Strengthen early identification and personalised care planning
  • Improve outcomes and experiences for patients, families and carers
  • Reduce avoidable unplanned hospital activity

Workshop Invitation

We invite you to join an engagement workshop that will help shape our understanding of Tackling inequalities and unwarranted variation in PEOLC to support the development of a Palliative and End of Life Strategy for Cheshire & Merseyside.

The PBNA highlighted various inequalities (e.g. rates of early identification, care planning and place of death across IMD Quintiles. Big gap in BME data collection. Differences in experience depending on major conditions).

  • What can we do to reduce these inequalities and tackles such unwarranted variation?
  • What links are there with other C&M programmes to tackle inequality?
