PEOLC and Urgent and Emergency Care Workshop
Developing a Palliative and End of Life Strategy for Cheshire & Merseyside
Following the publication of the Population Based Needs Assessment (PBNA) Cheshire and Merseyside ICB are beginning to work on a new five-year strategy for Palliative and End of Life Care (PEOLC)
This strategy aims to:
- Raise the profile of PEOLC across the system
- Strengthen early identification and personalised care planning
- Improve outcomes and experiences for patients, families and carers
- Reduce avoidable unplanned hospital activity
Workshop Invitation
We invite you to join an engagement workshop exploring how we can improve PEOLC and Urgent and Emergency Care to support the development of a Palliative and End of Life Strategy for Cheshire & Merseyside.
The PBNA clearly shows that across Cheshire & Merseyside, more people attend A&E, are admitted non-electively and spend longer in hospital in their last 3, 6 and 12 months of life than the England average.
The workshops will explore issues such as
- How can we reduce unnecessary attendances and admissions?
- How can we reduce Length of Stay?
- The workshop will consider the role of NWAS, hospital processes and the role of community services.
