Getting to the Heart of Heart Failure

Event Overview

This comprehensive study day provides an up-to-date overview of heart failure, equipping health and social care professionals with the knowledge and confidence to deliver high-quality, person-centred care across the patient pathway.

Delivered by an expert multidisciplinary professionals, the programme explores the diagnosis and assessment of heart failure, evidence-based pharmacological management, advanced therapies, transplantation and cardiac devices. It also examines common complications, including valvular heart disease and cardio-renal syndrome, alongside the role of cardiac rehabilitation and palliative care in supporting people living with heart failure.

A dedicated patient story will offer a unique insight into the lived experience of heart failure, helping you connect clinical knowledge with the realities of day-to-day care.

Designed for professionals working across primary, community and secondary care, this study day combines the latest clinical practice with practical learning to support the delivery of coordinated, compassionate care from diagnosis through to advanced heart failure.

Designed for healthcare professionals involved in the care of people with heart disease or those providing palliative and end of life care working across acute NHS hospitals, hospices, care homes and community services, including

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this study day, you will be able to:

• Describe the diagnosis, assessment and evidence-based management of heart failure across primary and secondary care.
• Recognise advanced heart failure and identify appropriate referral pathways for specialist therapies, transplantation and cardiac devices.
• identify common complications, including valvular heart disease and cardio-renal syndrome, and apply appropriate management strategies.
• Discuss the importance of holistic, patient-centred care within the role of cardiac rehabilitation, palliative care and multidisciplinary working  to support individuals living with heart failure.
• Reflect on the lived experience of heart failure to enhance compassionate, patient-centred practice.
