Dementia Training for Care Home Staff

Session Overview

Designed specifically for care home staff, this engaging half-day session will provide a clear overview of dementia, enabling you to deliver the best care for your patients.

A Clear Overview of Dementia – You will gain an understanding of the different types, key symptoms, and how the condition progresses.

Interactive workshop – Engage in an interactive workshop based on Teepa Snow’s Positive Approach to Care™, using case study work to bring the person-centred care to life, and embed this for future practice.

Person-Centred Care Strategies – You will learn practical, proven techniques to connect with and support residents living with dementia.

Communication – You will discover tools to recognise and respond to the unique needs of each individual, improving the quality of care provided every day.

Learning Outcomes

You will be able to answer the following questions:

• What is dementia? 
• What is it like to experience dementia?
• How do I support a person with dementia?
• What is person-centred care? And how do I deliver this in practice?
• What strategies can I use to support people with dementia everyday in a care home?
• Where can I get more support for my role from End of Life Partnership?

• Length: half-day, typically 9:30 am – 12:00 pm or 1:30 pm – 3:30 pm
• Suitable for: All hands on care home staff.
• Delivered: face to face at various care homes within Cheshire East. See dates below.
• Funding: Fully funded for staff working in Cheshire East Place.
