Local Cheshire charity The End of Life Partnership presented their award winning work at the recent UK Dementia Congress.

The Advanced Dementia Team, part of the Sandbach based charity, were approached to showcase their work at the twelfth national annual Dementia Congress, which took place at the beginning of November in Doncaster.

Jenny Casson, Occupational Therapist, presented on “Simulation Training” recreating real-life scenarios allowing health professionals to practice their dementia skills in a reflective, safe learning environment.

Sian Harrison, Team Leader, and Debbie Callow, Admiral Nurse, delivered a session on the impact of a specialist dementia team through increasing knowledge, skills and confidence of professionals and family carers in dealing with Advanced Dementia.

The event also saw the launch of “Visiting the Memory Café and other Dementia Care Activities”, a book featuring the work of Sara Jones, Namaste Care™ Project Worker. Namaste Care™ creates an environment of gentle communication via the five senses, improving quality of life for advanced dementia patients.

Sian Harrison, Team Leader Advanced Dementia Support Team, said “We were thrilled to be invited to present at this prestigious event. Both sessions were extremely well received and stimulated thought-provoking discussions amongst a diverse audience which covered professionals and people affected by dementia.”
