ABC – Be Aware, Be Bold and Be Curious

February 2015

How the Dementia End of Life Practice Development Team is adopting The ABC of Dementia as described by Alistair Burns, to improve end of life care for people with dementia.

Professor Alistair Burns is NHS England’s National Clinical Director for Dementia.

Be Aware of Dementia: The team are all Dementia Champions and are due to hold Dementia Friends training in East Cheshire Hospice and St Luke’s Hospice, and are looking for more opportunities to increase dementia awareness.

Be Bold: We are forging links between mental health services and palliative care to improve end of life care for people with dementia. Out Admiral Nurse is on secondment from Cheshire and Wirral Partnership (CWP) and we are hoping that this relationship will increase learning and expertise on both sides.

Be Curious: We are developing our resources to increase knowledge. We are running a number of different study days across the three CCG’s. We also offer bespoke training to different services.
